Research Interests:

My research interests focus on metal resistances in bacteria. I am particularly interested in metal resistant genes found in 2,500 bacterial colonies that were isolated from a metal contaminated site in Oak Ridge, TN. My laboratory used proteomics to study selenite resistance in Escherichia coli and a strain of Enterobacter, and we are now using transposon mutagenesis to identify other resistance genes.
